The Guelph Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit, member-driven business association that creates and delivers programs and opportunities for businesses to be their best. Through events, networking opportunities, programming, advocacy, and cost-saving programs, we provide opportunities that help strengthen business, promote and influence the policy conditions that enables business success, and we strive to exemplify community leadership. For over 195 years, we’ve been the largest business network in Guelph, and today, we represent over 750 members of all sizes and sectors.

Working in collaboration with the Chair, Executive Committee, and Board of Directors, the President & CEO will be responsible for the overall operational performance of the organization and team, while ensuring compliance with Chamber bylaws, Board policies, and applicable regulations for federally designated not-for-profit corporations.

As the President & CEO, you will be responsible for defining and implementing long-term goals, policies, and procedures that align with the Chamber's mission and vision to advance the organization’s strategic plan and grow revenue. You will provide visionary leadership, ensuring the Chamber continues its strong support for businesses in the region. This includes advocating for favorable business policies, creating value for Chamber members, and influencing public opinion.

In service to the membership, you will collaborate with a committed and skilled team while engaging with leaders from the business community, government, and with other key stakeholders. You will foster strong relationships and represent the organization at local, provincial, and national levels. By utilizing your strong leadership abilities and business insights, you will help drive the ongoing growth and success of the Chamber and the Guelph business community.

Education

  • Completion of post-secondary education from an accredited educational institution.

Experience

  • A minimum of 6 years of executive leadership experience.
  • Participation on a Board of Directors or reporting to a Board.
  • Experience in a service-driven organization with business-to-business experience preferred.
  • Experience working within the public or not-for-profit sector would be an asset.
  • Demonstrate experience working with and advocating to levels of government.
  • Experience in policy governance, controls, and reporting.
  • Strong financial management skills.
  • Knowledge of Human Resources management best practices.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to define performance objectives, measures, targets and benchmarks, and conduct root cause analysis.
  • In-depth understanding of budget preparation, resource allocation, and meeting financial targets.
  • Core capabilities in steering strategic direction, driving results, championing culture and core values, and communicating with influence.

Working Conditions

  • The Chamber currently operates in a hybrid office environment.
  • This position does require flexible hours including evenings and weekends to attend various off-site meetings and events.
  • Extensive travel as required. A valid G Class Ontario Driver’s License with access to a reliable vehicle is required for this role.

Compensation

  • Pay Range $104,000 - $135,000 per annum, commensurate with experience.
  • Health and Dental Benefits, RRSP Matching, Professional Development budget.
