2025 Provincial Election Priorities

Feb 5, 2025

We will remain a committed partner to our locally elected MPP and every elected official in Ontario, regardless of the outcome of the election, to help create a provincial landscape that encourages and fosters the conditions that enable business success.

Our business community is challenged by a range of familiar problems, including the housing crisis, growing homelessness and mental health concerns, unnecessary red tape, and issues with healthcare. However, the unique challenges and economic uncertainty that has come from President Trump’s unprecedented threats on Canada has highlighted the need for a sustainable growth agenda that will strengthen Ontario’s long-term resilience.

We stand with the Ontario Chamber of Commerce and their 2025 Provincial Election Priorities

To enable a resilient Ontario where businesses can thrive, we need a government that is focused on Ontario’s competitiveness. To achieve a competitive and resilient Ontario, we have 4 priorities for this upcoming election.

Priority 1: A Competitive Business and Trade Environment

A robust and predictable business environment is the foundation for economic growth and resilience, particularly as Ontario confronts rising protectionism from abroad. Ontario’s next government needs to drive productivity and remove barriers to the movement of goods and services within Canada’s borders.

Priority 2: Qualified People, Diverse Talent

To support Ontario’s economic competitiveness, it is essential to invest in post-secondary institutions and skills training systems that address labour shortages and prepare the workforce for the demands of a rapidly evolving economy.

Priority 3: Healthy and Sustainable Communities

To support a healthy community, local governments need tools and resources to address emerging challenges to enable connected and cohesive communities. Ontario must work with municipalities to address the impact of the substance use crisis.

Priority 4: Growth-Enabling Infrastructure

Ontario must prioritize the development of modernized transportation corridors. Equally important is addressing the housing crisis, which is crucial to attracting and retaining talent and ensuring sustainable growth for the future.
