Leadership Transition at the Guelph Chamber of Commerce

Today, the Guelph Chamber of Commerce announced that President & CEO, Kithio Mwanzia will be leaving the organization on March 19, 2019. As the Chamber of Commerce embarks on a new and ambitious strategic plan, the Board of Directors and the President & CEO mutually agreed that now is the time for leadership change.
“The Board is grateful for the leadership that Kithio has brought to the Guelph Chamber of Commerce during his tenure, and for the exceptional team he leaves us with,” says Melanie Lang, Chair of the Board of Directors, Guelph Chamber of Commerce. “The Board thanks Kithio for his service to our business community, and we wish him all the best as he embarks in this new direction”.
During his four years as President & CEO, Mr. Mwanzia is credited with successfully advocating on behalf of Guelph businesses, supporting small-and-medium sized businesses in their efforts to go global and further establishing Guelph on Canada’s Innovation Corridor.
“After serving over a decade in the Chamber network, it is time for a change, I was thrilled that my final station in the network was here in Guelph,” says Kithio Mwanzia, outgoing President & CEO, Guelph Chamber of Commerce. “It has been a true pleasure working with dedicated volunteers on our Board of Directors and a talented team within the Chamber of Commerce office to serve the Guelph business and surrounding community,” concludes Mwanzia.
The Board of Directors is working on a transition plan that will ensure Chamber activities continue without interruption and that recruitment for a new President & CEO happens in due course. Kithio Mwanzia came to Guelph to serve as President & CEO, having served in leadership roles at the St. Catharines-Thorold Chamber and Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce.
