For Immediate Release | Oct 10, 2018

Today, Guelph Chamber of Commerce President and CEO, Kithio Mwanzia released the following statement in response to the announcement of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).

“With $389 billion in annual trade at stake between Ontario and the US, the USMCA is a welcome announcement for the province’s business community. And while this trade agreement is an important first step, there is still more work to be done to ensure a prosperous future for Ontario where we are able to compete on the global stage” says Kithio Mwanzia, Guelph Chamber President and CEO.

“The Guelph Chamber of Commerce and Ontario Chamber Network is committed to advocating on behalf of our members for a more competitive economy. We must continue to protect our province against future tariffs as well as focus our efforts on streamlining regulation, diversifying our trading markets, and creating a competitive economy that connects workers to good jobs.

“Continued trade partnerships between our three jurisdictions benefit all parties involved by driving economic growth, enhancing efficiency, and increasing competitiveness. We applaud Canada’s entire negotiating team for delivering a trilateral trade agreement.”
