Shakiba Shayani Named Guelph Chamber of Commerce President & CEO

Guelph, August 6, 2019: The Guelph Chamber of Commerce is very pleased to announce that Shakiba Shayani has been named as the new President & Chief Executive Officer effective September 9, 2019.

Shakiba was selected after an extensive search that yielded many impressive candidates.  “The process was thoughtful and thorough to ensure the selected candidate could implement our strategic plan and lead the Chamber through our growth goals” says Melanie Lang, Chair of the Board of Directors.

Shakiba has served a term on the Chamber Board of Directors where she demonstrated a solid track record of creativity, progressiveness and community mindedness.  “We are grateful that she saw an opportunity to remain connected to the organization and serve her community in a different way” says Lang.

As Director of Community Investment at United Way Guelph Wellington Dufferin for the last six years, Shakiba has successfully monitored and met pressing community needs.  She has worked diligently with many local stakeholders to update the organization’s community impact model and helped implement United Way’s strategic plan.

“I am honoured and thrilled about this opportunity.  I look forward to working alongside a dedicated board and staff team and serve my hometown.  I am excited to continue to contribute to the inclusive economic prosperity of the community”.

Shakiba has experience in project management, community development and stakeholder engagement.  As an active long-time resident and University of Guelph alumni, Shakiba has extensive knowledge of the Guelph community and tremendous experience building strong relationships with both private and public sector businesses and non-for-profit organizations.
